#2. Roanoke Downtown Historic District

Today, only a few of the building’s walls and the theatre marquee still stand. In fact, the remains were seen briefly in an episode of American Pickers.

Located near Rock Mills, this is the oldest stone grist mill in the state. McCosh Grist Mill was built in the 1870s by James Eichelberger McCosh. On a sunny day, the mill and surrounding farmland can be a great place to spend a couple of hours with the family.
#4. Wadley Railroad Depot
Built in 1907, this historic train station serviced railroad lines traveling to Atlanta and Birmingham. It is one of four remaining Missional Revival train depots in Alabama, so it should come as no surprise that it was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2011.
